Following these guidelines keeps your pick up on schedule and helps you avoid additional fees at the end of your rental.

What Can I Put in a Dumpster?

Our dumpsters are designed to handle a wide range of non-hazardous waste. Whether you’re cleaning out your basement, remodeling a kitchen, or handling debris from a construction site, we’ve got you covered.

Accepted Dumpster Items:

  • Construction debris (drywall, wood, shingles, etc.)
  • Yard waste (branches, leaves, trimmings)
  • Household trash (general non-hazardous items)
  • Bulky furniture (couches, tables, chairs)
  • Mattress disposal
  • Light remodeling materials

What’s Not Allowed in the Dumpster?

While our containers can handle a lot, there are certain items that are prohibited for safety, environmental, or legal reasons. Placing these items in your dumpster may result in additional fees or rejected pickups.

Prohibited Items:

  • Dirt and soil (weight limits)
  • Concrete, bricks, pavers, and rock (weight limits)
  • Car batteries (hazardous materials)
  • Paint or paint cans (hazardous materials)
  • Railroad ties (treated with hazardous chemicals)
  • Appliances (require recycling protocols)

These materials either exceed the weight limits of our dumpsters, pose environmental hazards, or require special disposal procedures under local and state regulations.

Understanding Dumpster Weight Limits

Each dumpster rental includes a specified tonnage allowance:

  • 12-Yard Dumpster: 1 ton included
  • 15-Yard Dumpster: 1 ton included
  • 20-Yard Dumpster: 1 ton included

Exceeding the weight limit: $53 per additional ton

Materials That Add Weight Quickly:
  • Heavy roofing shingles (especially multiple layers)
  • Concrete, brick, or stone (even small amounts)
  • Wet materials (rain-soaked carpet, wet drywall)
  • Dirt and soil
  • Multiple layers of flooring

How to Avoid Weight Overages:

  • Estimate your debris type and volume before ordering
  • Choose a larger dumpster if you’re working with heavy materials
  • Break concrete and heavy items into smaller pieces to distribute weight

Preparing for Dumpster Drop-Off

  • Clear the drop-off area of vehicles, low-hanging branches, and overhead wires.
  • Choose a flat surface such as a driveway, parking pad, or designated area on your property.
  • Use plywood under the wheels if placing on concrete, pavers, or decorative surfaces to avoid scuffing or surface damage.
  • Avoid blocking walkways, garage doors, or other essential access areas.

Our team will position the dumpster where you request, as long as it’s safe and accessible for delivery.

Safe Usage Tips

Once your dumpster is in place, it’s important to use it properly throughout your rental period. Overloaded or improperly filled dumpsters can cause safety hazards or lead to extra charges.

  • Overfill the container above the top edge. This may prevent safe transport and violate hauling regulations.
  • Distribute heavy materials unevenly. Always spread weight out evenly to avoid tipping or shifting.
  • Attempt to move the dumpster once it’s been placed. Contact us if repositioning is needed.

👍 Do:

  • Break down bulky items when possible
  • Load heavier materials first, then lighter items on top
  • Keep debris below the fill line
